Our Local Landscape
Heath Hayes, situated in the Cannock Chase district of Staffordshire, serves as a gateway to some of the UK's most stunning natural scenery. As of 2026, it remains a thriving residential hub that balances its industrial heritage with modern suburban living.
The area is famous for its proximity to Cannock Chase (National Landscape), a former Royal forest and AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). Whether you are exploring the Iron Age hillfort at Castle Ring or cycling through Birches Valley, nature is always just a few minutes away.

Rich Industrial Heritage
Formerly known as 'Hethhey' in the 16th century, the Heath Hayes we know today was forged in the 19th-century coal mining boom. Notable collieries like 'B' Pit and '6's' (The Cannel) drove the local economy, turning a quiet heathland into a bustling village.
- 1862: Opening of 'B' Pit, which operated for nearly a century.
- 1902: Construction of St John the Evangelist Church.
- Legacy: The Old Hednesford Park now sits on former canal basins used to transport coal.
